President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reminded that every year on January 20, Ukrainians honor the defenders of Donetsk Airport — people who held the defense for 242 days and did not surrender, while surrounded and under constant attacks.
He wrote about this on social media.
“They were called cyborgs, but they simply demonstrated the very best of what exists in the Ukrainian character, in the Ukrainian heart, in the Ukrainian spirit: not to surrender, to strike the occupier, and to impress the world with what Ukraine is capable of. These are exactly the people who must be supported”, — the statement said.
The Head of State thanked everyone who stands with Ukraine and helps it.
