In the context of modern warfare in eastern Ukraine, unmanned technologies are playing an increasingly important role not only in reconnaissance and target engagement, but also in logistics and the evacuation of the wounded.
The operation of a ground robotic system was described by Pavlo, commander of a ground robotic systems unit, in an interview with the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo.
He recalled an occasion when the military evacuated two wounded soldiers using a ground robotic system.
“We brought one of them to the dam. The drone fell into that dam. But the guys from another position picked him up and transported him further. Of course, it hurts to lose the vehicle when you put your soul into it, when you spend the whole day with it. And then something happens, and that’s it. But human life is more important than a piece of metal”, — Pavlo said.
The cost of the ground robotic system is about 1,000,000 hryvnias. The life of a servicemember is priceless. The use of robotic systems in security operations is not an experiment but a real necessity that already saves the lives of Ukrainian defenders every day.
