President awards seven defenders the title Hero of Ukraine, four posthumously

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has awarded the title Hero of Ukraine to seven servicemen, four of them posthumously.

The relevant decrees were published on the President’s official website.

The documents state that the titles were awarded for personal courage and heroism shown in defending the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and for selfless service to the Ukrainian people.

The title Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the Golden Star was awarded to:

  • Colonel Hennadii Kutsyi

  • Colonel Maksym Yarosh

  • Senior Sergeant Myron Chernovol

  • Lieutenant Colonel Oleksandr Drozdetskyi (posthumously)

  • Chief Sergeant Oleksii Symonenko (posthumously)

  • Junior Sergeant Andrii Palonyi (posthumously)

  • Soldier Vladyslav Stepanenko (posthumously)

Pashtet is a combat medic of the 2nd Operational Purpose Battalion Vanguard of the Rubizh Brigade. He joined the unit more than a year ago as an ordinary infantryman. After being wounded and completing training, the soldier replaced his rifle with a medical backpack and began saving the lives of his brothers-in-arms at the most critical moments of battle.
