In the city of Siversk, the Defense Forces of Ukraine are actively and successfully destroying the enemy, as Ukrainian warriors know the city well, having defended it for a long time.
This was stated on the “United News” national telethon by Maksym Butolin, Chief Sergeant of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa.
He explained that elevation differences around the city reach up to 60 meters, while Siversk itself lies in a lowland and is within range of virtually any type of weapon.
“Therefore, a decision was made to withdraw to more advantageous lines and organize defense there. The front is a dynamic structure; in this case, it turned out that the flanks did not allow us to hold the city. We defended it for more than three years, but circumstances forced us to make such unpopular decisions”, — Maksym Butolin said.
At the same time, he emphasized that daily work to eliminate the enemy in the city continues. “We know the city, we know all the shelters. The city has become a ‘kill zone.’ There, the enemy will suffer even greater losses, because he moves through a city we know”, — said the chief sergeant of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
