Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes it is important that partners see this and that they not only see it but also respond, in particular partners in the United States, who often say that Russia allegedly wants to end the war.
The President stated this on December 17 in his evening address.
“But from Russia we hear completely different rhetoric, different signals — including official orders to their army. This Russian mood must be seen and responded to.
And when they have precisely such a mood, they will undermine diplomacy as well, trying through various diplomatic formulations and pressure on specific points in documents to simply cover up their desire to destroy Ukraine and Ukrainians, their desire to legitimize Russia’s theft of our land.
And then — other countries in Europe, which someone in Russia may someday call their so-called ‘historical lands’.
Real protection is needed from this Russian historical madness, and now we will continue working with all partners to ensure that such protection truly exists.
Security decisions are needed, financial decisions are needed, including regarding Russian assets, political decisions are needed.
And courage is needed from all partners — to see the truth, acknowledge the truth, and act accordingly. I want to thank everyone who supports Ukraine in exactly this way and works toward achieving security”, — the President emphasized.
He recalled that tomorrow European leaders are meeting in Brussels, and this is a very important meeting.
“The result of these meetings — the result for Europe — must be such that Russia feels that its desire to wage war next year will make no sense, because Ukraine will have support.
This depends one hundred percent on Europe — it is Europe that must make this choice. We also count on our representatives continuing talks and meetings with the American team this week regarding steps that can work for peace and guaranteed security.
I thank everyone who is with us, who is with Ukraine! I thank everyone who defends our state!” — Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
He also recalled the situation in the regions where restoration work continues around the clock.
“This is often heroic work by our repair crews, energy workers, involved municipal services, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine — especially in areas close to the border with Russia, close to the front line.
Everywhere they are working to restore electricity supply for our people, our communities. It is important that there are no gaps in this. That local and regional authorities do not forget about a single street or a single village.
Everywhere the work must be prompt, and responsibility for this is personal.
And now I would like to especially recognize our rescuers — SES workers, primarily in southern Ukraine, where there is a lot of work after recent Russian strikes.
Odesa region — namely Yurii Afanasiev, Ruslan Bobok, Yevhen Bielchenko, Vitalii Burlak, Vitalii Hrytsak, Serhii Liepshyi, Oleksii Maloman, Andrii Mandziuk, Serhii Morozov, Oleksandr Semenov.
Thank you, guys, and all your colleagues in Odesa and the region! Also the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv region — Oleksandr Babii, Vladyslav Vozniuk, Dmytro Zarvanskyi, Andrii Kravchenko, Volodymyr Krytskyi. Thank you and your colleagues!
Every region, every city, every community must be able to count on the full effectiveness of emergency services, energy companies, and every government institution.
The Government of Ukraine must help to the maximum extent, and we are ensuring the necessary resources for this, including through our work with partners”, — the President assured.
