A state program is operating in Ukraine to provide veterans with modern hearing aids free of charge.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on December 17.

Within the program, more than 24,400 modern OTICON hearing aids from Denmark have already been purchased. Veterans can receive them free of charge and regain the ability to hear, communicate with loved ones, work, and feel more confident in everyday life.

War veterans and servicemembers with hearing impairment are eligible to receive a free hearing aid, even if disability status has not yet been established.

How to obtain a hearing aid:

  • Contact your doctor (family physician, therapist, or pediatrician), who will refer you to an audiologist.
  • Undergo an examination by an audiologist and obtain a medical conclusion.
  • Find a medical facility participating in the program — the current list of facilities is available at: https://mva.gov.ua/veteranam/hearing-aid-from-the-state-to-veterans

Submit documents, including:

  • passport of a citizen of Ukraine;
  • war veteran certificate or another document confirming your status;
  • referral from the attending physician;
  • conclusion of the military medical commission — for servicemembers, or an extract from the decision of the EKOPFO (or a valid decision of the MSEC) on the establishment of disability and recommendations of the individual rehabilitation program;
  • results of hearing acuity measurements (audiogram) provided by the audiologist after examination;
  • certificate of assignment of an identification number (if available).

Undergo the procedure of selection and individual adjustment of the hearing aid.

Receive the free hearing aid and recommendations on its use and care.

In case of refusal or additional questions, contact the hotline of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine: 0 800 505 201.
