Today, international support for Ukraine is not only a symbol of solidarity but also a strategic choice for global security.
The position of the United States is especially important, as Americans — through both their actions and their words — shape the tone of the global response to aggression.
Looking through screenshots from social media, it becomes clear that ordinary Americans genuinely understand the cost of this war. They write about their own fears of a new war on the European continent, about the fact that by helping Ukraine, the U.S. is not only supporting democracy but also protecting itself from further instability. Comments show that for many, this is not abstract politics but a real understanding of global responsibility.
A user of the social network “X,” Rima Med, is a Native American. Since 2022, she has joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a tactical medical instructor and medic. She writes to her audience of 40,000:
“As an American, I believe that it is of the most importance to help Ukraine defend its freedom and independence. These are the true American values that I stand and live by”.
Another “X” user, T.C.A.G., who has been training Ukrainian troops for more than three years, also shared his experience in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Saying that ‘we owe them nothing’ is not just wrong, it is dangerous. People forget quickly. Ukraine stood with us in Iraq and Afghanistan. They sent troops, bled beside our soldiers, and never asked for anything in return. They did it because they believed in the West, in democracy, and in the idea that free nations stand together. And now, for more than 4 years, Ukraine has been fighting an enemy that has repeatedly wished death upon the United States. The same enemy that still holds nuclear weapons aimed at the critical infrastructure we depend on. How anyone can say that their fight has nothing to do with us — to me, that is incomprehensible”.
The popular American social network Reddit, according to a study by The New York Times, reported that as of September 1, 2025, 92 American volunteers have given their lives for Ukraine in the fight against the Russian aggressor.
“Think about it. 92 people crossed the ocean to fight against Russian evil. How many thousands of Americans have taken up arms to defend our land right now?”
Americans understand that Ukraine today is the front line in defending the principles of freedom and sovereignty. Every aircraft sent, every air-defense system delivered, every decision on sanctions against the aggressor — all of this is an investment in a future where the world will be safer and more predictable.
However, it is not only Americans who recognize the importance of supporting Ukraine and defending its sovereignty and independence. People from all over the world have joined the ranks of Ukraine’s two International Legions.
According to open-source information, more than 2,000 Colombian volunteers serve in the International Legions.
These screenshots and stories show genuine human compassion. People share their experiences: some came and put on a uniform to personally defend Ukraine, others continue training our troops… It is a reminder that war exists not only on the front line but also in the hearts of people who are ready to act for the sake of justice.
At the same time, while peace negotiations are ongoing, Reddit users in the U.S. have begun actively discussing why support for Ukraine should continue.
A user with the nickname SpartanShock117 stated:
“Russia has been listed as one of our main threats/potential enemies pretty consistently since the end of World War II. We spend tremendous amount of money each year to have a military that can defeat enemies precisely like Russia. For about 10% of the annual defense budget and no American service members at risk, the Ukrainians are significantly attriting Russia of men, arms, and equipment. Militaryly, this is a phenomenal deal and opportunity”.
Another Reddit user, Ozzi, joined the discussion:
“This is the best answer. Many of the others are good too. The U.S. has an opportunity to drain a major adversary economically and to destabilize or potentially cause a ruthless dictator to appease his population with steps toward democracy in order to get the economic and manpower support he needs to prosecute the war. Not to mention that Western militaries get to watch while Russia continues to demonstrate that it is no longer a world class outfit”.
This is why continued American support is not just a political step — it is a moral obligation. Every act of assistance strengthens Ukraine’s resilience, deters the aggressor, and shows the world that freedom and human rights are not empty words.
Wherever we look — in social media, in comments, in posts — we see one thing: Americans understand the importance of this fight and are ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine. And this support today is more valuable than ever.
