The Raven launcher crew has already destroyed four cruise and guided air missiles and more than two dozen enemy drones.
The Air Command “West” shared details about the crew’s combat performance on its Facebook page.
“Most people expected Raven to be effective only against drones. And indeed, we’ve shot down 24 strikes and reconnaissance UAVs with it. But in our hands, this launcher also takes down cruise and guided air missiles! As of now, the ‘Voron’ — that’s how ‘Raven’ translates from English — has already ‘feasted on’ three Kh-59s and one Kh-101”, — said Artem, the commander of the Raven launcher from the Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment named after the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen.
The crew destroyed its first missile in November 2023, as it approached one of the regional centers.
“At that time, we reported that we were ready to engage missiles — and we got the green light. We acted fast: the driver had to position the vehicle toward the target, the operator — detect and lock onto it, taking into account the specifics of the launcher’s operation, and the commander — make the decision to fire. From detection to launch, we had only a few seconds. But we did it! Our missile struck the enemy’s Kh-59. About a month later, we took down a Kh-101, and then two more Kh-59s”, — Artem recalled.
But the ‘Voron’ crew didn’t stop there. Their next challenge was engaging a Su-34 aircraft, which had been exhausting Ukrainian infantry on the eastern front with guided bomb (KAB) strikes.
