Not at sea, but in a lake: SOF took out a “Kalibr” carrier deep in Russia’s rear — on the territory of Karelia
The Special Operations Forces struck the Russian small missile ship “Grad,” reporting that the strike was carried out today at 04:31 a.m. in Lake Onega on the territory of the Republic of Karelia, Russian Federation.
This is stated in a post on the Special Operations Command’s page.
As the Armed Forces had earlier reported, an enemy ship was struck on the morning of October 4. Now the SOF have provided exclusive details of the operation.
“At 04:31 a.m. on October 4, 2025, as a result of successful actions by one of the units of the Special Operations Forces in Lake Onega (Republic of Karelia), the small missile ship ‘Grad’ (hull number 575) of Project 21631 ‘Buyan-M’ was struck”, — the post says.
It is reported that the missile carrier was heading from the Baltic to the Caspian Sea, and the strike hit the right portion of the powerplant compartment.
The SOF emphasize that the ‘Grad’ is one of the newest and most modern ships of the Russian Federation, commissioned into the Baltic Fleet only at the end of 2022. Its main armament is the Kalibr-NK missile system.
“The Special Operations Forces continue to carry out asymmetric and sensitive actions with the aim of stopping the enemy”, — the command summed up.
