For the first time, the Department of Defense Procurement of the Ministry of Defense is purchasing universal field tarps — armored blankets that will enhance the protection of our soldiers on the front line.

This was reported by Ukraine’s Minister of Defense, Denys Shmyhal, on social media.

The armored blanket protects against fragments of artillery shells, mines, grenades, and other explosive elements. It can be used during movement across open terrain, to cover dugouts and positions, when there is no armor in a vehicle, as well as during the evacuation of the wounded.

Each item includes a soft ballistic package, a cover, an individual bag, a small repair kit, and markings with a QR code for quick access to the instructions. The armored blankets will be supplied in MM-14 camouflage and will retain their properties across a wide temperature range.

According to the Minister, plans include purchasing the first 5,300 units worth more than 132 million UAH.

“We will continue to provide our defenders with everything necessary to preserve life and ensure the successful execution of combat missions”, — the head of the defense ministry stated.
