Ukraine and Norway are launching large-scale defense cooperation: the countries have agreed on joint production of unmanned aerial vehicles. They have signed the corresponding agreement, under which the first pilot production line is to be launched already in 2026.

This was announced by Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Denys Shmyhal following negotiations with Norway’s Minister of Defense Tore Sandvik.

SCALING AND KNOWLEDGE SHARING

According to Denys Shmyhal, the agreement is an important step in strengthening defense capability. Thanks to it:

  • Ukraine will provide its own technologies and combat experience in the use of UAVs;

  • Norway will provide production capabilities and access to research and development infrastructure.

“We will receive a powerful production facility that will give our soldiers modern drones, as well as open the way for design and scientific cooperation with leading Norwegian institutions”, — Denys Shmyhal emphasized.

LAUNCH IN 2026

The project provides for rapid implementation: the first pilot line will be launched already in 2026. Further plans include scaling up production and increasing capacity.

“This project is an example of international cooperation that strengthens the defense capability of free nations around the world”, — the Minister of Defense summarized.
