Soldiers of the anti-aircraft missile division of the 39th Separate Coastal Defense Brigade demonstrated the effective use of French “Mistral” MANPADS, destroying three enemy Shahed kamikaze drones in a single shift.

This was reported on the page of the 39th SCDB.

“The Mistral anti-aircraft missile systems are working effectively in the interests of Ukraine on the front. The systems, designed to target helicopters and aircraft, are successfully being used by our troops to shoot down Shaheds”, — the brigade noted.

The “Mistral” is a modern French man-portable air-defense system (MANPADS) designed to engage low-flying aerial targets. Its main advantage is the infrared homing head, which allows it to operate on a “fire-and-forget” principle. The missile is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 7.5 km. Although the system was created to combat helicopters and airplanes, its sensitive guidance system has proven extremely effective against Shaheds, which have a characteristic heat signature from their engine.

“Yes, recently the soldiers of the 39th Separate Coastal Defense Brigade’s anti-aircraft missile division destroyed three enemy kamikaze drones in a single shift”, — the marines reported, confirming the high effectiveness of the French weapon in the hands of Ukrainian warriors.
