The DIU publishes information about Russian enterprises that develop, manufacture, repair, and service Russian helicopters for the needs of Russia’s Armed Force
The corresponding data were published by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on the War&Sanctions portal.
Four years ago, dozens of Russian helicopters Ka-52 and Mi-8 flew at low altitude toward Hostomel Airport intending to seize it and create a foothold for an assault on Kyiv.
Special forces of the DIU of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, National Guard fighters, and other Defense Forces units thwarted the enemy’s plans and held the airfield during the first critical hours of the invasion.
To mark the anniversary of the full-scale invasion, the DIU is publishing on War&Sanctions data on 34 enterprises belonging to the ‘Russian Helicopters’ holding of the state corporation ‘Rostec’.
Today, in the “Aggressor’s Defense Industry” section of the War&Sanctions portal, the DIU published information about Russian enterprises.
Fourteen of the enterprises published today have not come under sanctions by any country of the sanctions coalition over 13 years of the Russian-Ukrainian war and four years of full-scale invasion.
Among them:
The experience of the Russian-Ukrainian war and, in particular, the Russian operation in Hostomel shows that limiting the aggressor state’s ability to develop, produce, service, and repair helicopters is critically important to reducing its offensive potential.
Restrictions must also apply to the civilian helicopter industry due to high compatibility between “civilian” and “military” versions of various helicopter types — especially the most widely used in Russia’s Armed Forces, the Mi-8.
Comprehensive sanctions against Russia and assistance to Ukraine are today the only chance for democratic nations to prevent the spread of war across the European continent and other parts of the world.
