Members of the European Parliament voted today in favor of three legislative acts providing Ukraine with an EU loan of €90 billion.

According to the statement on the European Parliament’s website, the approved package is aimed at supporting Ukraine with an EU loan of €90 billion for 2026–2027.

Out of this amount:

  • €30 billion will be allocated as macro-financial assistance or budgetary support through the Ukraine Facility program.

  • €60 billion will strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities and support the purchase of military equipment, ensuring timely access to critically needed defense products, mainly from defense enterprises in Ukraine, the EU, and the EEA/EFTA.

It is emphasized that the funding will be subject to strict conditions, including Ukraine’s continued commitment to democratic governance, the rule of law, and human rights protection, including minority rights. It also requires ongoing efforts to fight corruption and strengthen democratic institutions.

The package must also be approved by the EU Council, after which the European Commission will be able to make the first payment at the beginning of the second quarter of 2026.
