A unique Shahed shootdown: drone operators of the 110th Brigade had a stroke of military luck
Most Shaheds passing through the responsibility zone of the 110th Brigade on the Zaporizhzhia axis are aimed at Zaporizhzhia. Therefore, each one shot down means saved civilian homes and infrastructure.
During the latest attack, the brigade’s interceptors downed four Shaheds — and one of them was hit by accident.
This was reported on ArmyTV on February 6 by Sergeant “Saloyed” of the UAV Systems Battalion of the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Marko Bezruchko.
“It was a unique shootdown. We sent out an interceptor crew to a target, but they lost it. Then they noticed a point flying in the sky — and it turned out to be a Shahed. And we shot it down”, — he said.
This Shahed became the brigade’s fourth downed UAV in a short period.
“It’s very important to shoot them down, because most of the Shaheds in our zone head toward Zaporizhzhia”, — the soldier emphasized.
The enemy is highly active in the skies over Zaporizhzhia, so the brigade has many downed aerial targets.
“The enemy is quite active. There are many UAVs in the air, many ‘wings,’ both reconnaissance and strike types — including ZALA and Supercam. Recently we’ve seen shootdowns of a new Russian reconnaissance drone called ‘Veshchiy Oleg’. There are quite a lot of them. It’s a new recon drone, little is known about it. Its construction resembles the ‘Molniya’ — built from ‘something and sticks’, as we say”, — the serviceman reported.
