In the area of responsibility of the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Mstyslav the Brave in the Lyman direction, not only enemy infantrymen but also mortar crews and UAV operators are within the kill zone created by Ukrainian drone operators.
This was stated on the air of Army TV by Sergeant Vasyl Denysiuk of the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Mstyslav the Brave.
The enemy’s infiltration tactics, by which infantry attempted to penetrate the near rear of the Defense Forces, have also completely lost effectiveness.
“In the area of responsibility of the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade, we have managed to densify the defense of our line battalions and expand the kill zone. That is, for the most part, the enemy currently has no opportunity even to approach our front line. Most of their assault troops attempting to do so are detected by our operators and destroyed on the approaches, even when they are small infantry groups”, — he said.
As a result, the enemy is forced to conduct assault actions in small groups.
“There is no sense in expanding or increasing their numbers, because that would only create a larger target. The calculation may only be that if there are more Russians, perhaps we will simply run out of drones. But I can assure you that we have enough drones, and any Russians approaching the area of responsibility of the 66th Brigade will be detected and destroyed”, — the serviceman emphasized.
The infiltration tactics of enemy infantry into the near rear of Ukrainian defenders have also proven ineffective.
“Russian command has certain reference points where forward positions may be located and has an approximate understanding of where there may be a wider distance between forward positions. Russian groups try to move along these routes where, in the opinion of Russian command, this distance may be wide, so that our infantry on those positions would not be able to detect the enemy in time, report it, or destroy it”, — the sergeant explained.
However, not only infantry engages the enemy, as UAVs are the primary means of detecting and destroying enemy assault troops. Thanks to this, infiltration tactics have brought no success for several months.
“Of course, in addition to the infantry, our drones also work very actively, conducting constant reconnaissance to detect and destroy enemy groups. I can say that in recent months, enemy infiltration tactics have had no success at all. They are no longer frequent, because we have managed to densify our defense, tighten our battle formations, expand the kill zone, and any Russian groups that are only attempting to approach our forward positions are destroyed on the approaches”, — Vasyl Denysiuk assured.
He also noted that the kill zone now also covers the enemy’s near rear, and Ukrainian drone operators regularly hunt Russian mortar crews and UAV operators.
“By the way, the kill zone applies not only to Russian infantry but also to Russian fire assets — primarily UAV pilots and mortars, which have also become quite vulnerable targets for our operators”, — said the sergeant of the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Mstyslav the Brave.
