Since the formation of the unit in October 2023, fighters of the anti-aircraft missile regiment named after the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen have struck 317 cruise missiles as well as enemy reconnaissance and strike UAVs.
This was reported on the page of the Western Air Command by Yevhen, commander of the Raven launcher battery of the regiment.
“We strive to adhere to the principle ‘one launch — one kill’, while avoiding situations in which we ourselves become a target for the enemy. In the northern direction last year, this is exactly how we worked: one launch — one destroyed target. At the same time, we properly conducted covert control, camouflage of personnel and equipment, and constant maneuvering — the enemy failed to detect our crews even in the hottest areas near the line of contact”, — the commander noted.
The enemy repeatedly believed it had struck the battery’s combat crew. In particular, in the southern direction, occupiers struck the duty area of the vehicle with an Iskander ballistic missile.
“In the southern direction, the occupiers hit the area where our vehicle was on duty with an Iskander. But neither personnel nor equipment were there anymore. A timely decision by the duty officer and the swift execution of the order by servicemen made it possible to avoid danger”, — Yevhen recounted.
The commander emphasized that the unit’s effectiveness did not decrease even amid the gradual replacement of officers — launcher commanders — with sergeants.
“If we were to describe the battery in five words, they would probably be courage, duty, self-sacrifice, professionalism, and faith. Faith in victory and in the capabilities of our Raven. Because even the gradual replacement of officers as launcher commanders with sergeants did not affect the effectiveness and performance of the unit — there were no ‘drop-offs’”, the officer stressed.
According to the results of 2025, this Raven launcher battery was recognized as one of the best in the Western Air Command. The commander of the Western Air Command thanked the air defense personnel for their high achievements in combat operations.
