In the Lyman direction, the situation remains unchanged. It is still consistently difficult. The enemy is constantly attacking, and there are very many enemy assault troops.
This was stated on air of Suspilne Novyny by Maksym Bilousov, Head of the Communications Unit of the 60th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
According to him, everything is quite straightforward in the Lyman direction. The enemy’s main objective is to capture Lyman. It is a fortified city and an important railway hub, which explains why the enemy is so eager to occupy it — it would serve as a foothold for further advancement.
The enemy advances here continuously, and the manpower ratio sometimes reaches 1:6 or even 1:10 in their favor.
“The 20th Army is positioned opposite our positions. We are directly in the path of its main strike force. The greatest challenge is holding back this massive assault aimed specifically at our positions. The enemy is brainwashed and fears death at the hands of their commander more than death on the battlefield”, — said the Head of the Communications Unit of the 60th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
The tactic they use is infiltration as close as possible to the positions of the Defense Forces. They move in small groups of 2 – 4 people.
“Because Lyman and the surrounding area are forests, aerial reconnaissance can sometimes be very difficult. From time to time, the enemy may manage to infiltrate somewhere in small groups. But everything is done to maintain stable ‘carousels’—when drones are constantly on watch in the sky to monitor enemy movement”, — Maksym Bilousov noted.
