On January 12, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy heard a detailed report from Ukraine’s negotiating team regarding communication with the American side.
This was stated in a message by the Head of State on his Telegram channel.
“We discussed the schedule for the next two weeks — meetings, preparation of documents, and possible signing. I instructed to finalize and submit for consideration at the highest level a document on security guarantees for Ukraine from the United States. This must be a document of historic significance, and the text is now reaching precisely that level”, — the President emphasized.
In addition, documents on the reconstruction and economic development of Ukraine were discussed. Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka, and Minister Oleksii Sobolev to ensure full support and expert review of all economic aspects of future agreements between Ukraine and the United States, as well as trilateral ones: Ukraine — Europe — America.
The necessary parameters were also defined for mechanisms for using reconstruction funds that will be provided by partners.
“We understand that the American side is communicating with Russia regarding a basic political framework for ending the war. We have formulated our vision, and there must be clear feedback from Russia on whether they are ready to end the war on real terms. If there is no such readiness, pressure on the aggressor must continue to increase”, — Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.
The President of Ukraine also highlighted the correct tactics regarding shadow fleet tankers and financial schemes that help marginal regimes from other parts of the world circumvent imposed sanctions.
Similar practices should be expanded to Russia — if it chooses war, the world’s response must be the maximum restriction of Russian export revenues. “I thank everyone in the world who helps us protect lives in Ukraine and, despite everything, remain on the diplomatic track”, — he said.
