During a working visit to Berlin, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Serhii Boiev held a series of meetings with German officials aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s air defense and increasing the effectiveness of assistance provided to Ukraine.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on December 13.
In particular, Serhii Boiev met with the National Armaments Director of the German Ministry of Defense, Vice Admiral Carsten Stawitzki, and discussed current projects as well as prospects for future industrial cooperation.
“Ukraine is interested in developing projects in the field of air defense. Protecting the sky is our highest priority”, — the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine emphasized.
He also held meetings with representatives of Rheinmetall and Diehl Defence regarding the prospects for joint industry projects with Ukrainian companies. The parties updated the status of joint production and the localization of companies in Ukraine.
In addition, Serhii Boiev met with the Head of the “Ukraine” Situation Center of the German Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General Joachim Kaschke. They discussed Germany’s military assistance for the coming year and its prioritization.
The Ukrainian representative emphasized the critical need for missiles for air defense and missile defense systems, as well as financing for the production of Ukrainian drones.
“I personally thank Germany for its consistent support and for strengthening Ukraine with missiles for the IRIS-T systems. This helps repel Russia’s aerial attacks”, — Serhii Boiev noted.
Another topic of the talks was the transformation of the “Ramstein” format. Ukraine’s priority is the timely receipt of assistance in line with critical needs. During a trilateral meeting with Brigadier General Kaschke and Major General Adrian Riley, the parties discussed needs and plans for 2026, as well as expectations for the next meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.
