The Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, together with the insurgent movement “Chorna Iskra” (“Black Spark”), conducted a special operation in the Caspian Sea, striking two Russian vessels used to transport weapons and military equipment.

This was reported on the official page of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Attack on Russia’s military logistics

The operation took place near the coast of the Republic of Kalmykia. According to information provided by the insurgent movement, the targeted vessels were transporting military cargo in the interests of the Russian armed forces.

Representatives of “Chorna Iskra” played a key role in preparing the operation, providing the SOF with detailed data on the vessels’ routes and the nature of the cargo.

Vessels under U.S. sanctions

Among the vessels hit were the Kompozitor Rakhmaninov and the Askar-Sarydzha. Both ships were used by Russia for military purposes and are under U.S. sanctions due to their involvement in transporting military cargo between Iran and Russia.

Asymmetric response

The Special Operations Forces emphasize that such actions are part of systematic efforts to undermine the enemy’s offensive capabilities far beyond active combat zones.

The Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to operate asymmetrically, striking critical elements of Russia’s military logistics.
