The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, held a phone conversation with the Chief of the Defence Staff of the Canadian Armed Forces, General Jennie Carignan.

This was reported on the General Staff of the AFU’s Facebook page.

“First of all, I thanked the Government and the people of Canada for their tangible support of Ukraine in the fight for independence and for their military assistance to the Defence Forces of Ukraine. In particular, I expressed gratitude for their active involvement in training Ukrainian soldiers”, — Oleksandr Syrskyi noted.

He stressed in particular that Canada has actively joined the “Priority Ukrainian Requirements List” (PURL) initiative aimed at financing the supply of critically important U.S. weaponry to Ukraine.

The Commander-in-Chief of the AFU briefed on the security situation and the operational environment in areas where hostilities are ongoing.

He emphasized that the enemy continues its missile and air strikes against civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings, kindergartens, schools, and hospitals. On the eve of winter, the Russians are trying to destroy our energy infrastructure in an attempt to deprive Ukrainians of light and heat. In this regard, strengthening Ukraine’s air shield is the most critical priority.

“Taking this opportunity, I once again expressed my gratitude to General Jennie Carignan and the people of Canada for their support and cooperation in the interests of Ukraine’s defense and the protection of democracy in Europe and worldwide!” — the statement reads.
