The top political leadership of the aggressor state has once again resorted to spreading fake statements about significant “successes” of the Russian army on the battlefield. In reality, Kremlin reports about the capture of the cities of Huliaipole and Myrnohrad are not supported by facts.
This is stated in a release by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The situation in Huliaipole, Zaporizhzhia region, is difficult, but the defensive operation in the settlement continues. Ukrainian warriors continue active actions to destroy enemy infantry groups in the city.
The operational situation in Myrnohrad also remains difficult; however, enemy units, as before, have failed to realize their plans to capture the Pokrovsk–Myrnohrad agglomeration, and thus resort to disinformation.
Claims about control over half of the city of Kostiantynivka in Donetsk region are also false. The Defense Forces of Ukraine hold defensive lines and destroy the enemy on the approaches to the settlement. On December 26, the occupiers attempted an assault and advanced in a column toward Kostiantynivka. As a result of successful actions by Ukrainian defenders, two enemy tanks equipped for mine-clearing were destroyed, and enemy infantry was eliminated by Ukrainian UAVs.
The General Staff recalled that in the case of Kupiansk, Russian leadership had already reported several times about taking the city under control and encircling Ukrainian units there. In reality, the Defense Forces of Ukraine, through skillful actions, liberated a number of settlements north of Kupiansk, cleared most of the city itself, and blocked the remnants of the Russian grouping.
The same situation applies to Pokrovsk, whose capture the aggressor has been claiming since late September last year. However, the defense of the city has been ongoing for 17 months, and the enemy has been suffering significant losses there throughout this time.
It is obvious that Russian lies are primarily aimed at foreign partners and have intensified precisely during peace negotiations. Nevertheless, Russian disinformation will not affect Ukraine’s position or further diplomatic work.
“The real result of such fake statements by the Kremlin dictator is only the significant losses of his occupying army, which daily amount to at least 1,000 killed and wounded Russian soldiers. The Armed Forces once again urge everyone to rely only on verified sources of information and not to fall for provocations by Russian propagandists”, — the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized.
