During his visit to Sweden, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson regarding the transfer of JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets to the Defense Forces.
The Head of State reported this on Wednesday, October 22, on his social media accounts.
“Today, one of the key topics of our negotiations is strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities. We view JAS 39 Gripen aircraft as one of the most effective components of this effort and expect to receive the first Gripens as early as 2026”, — the statement reads.
In addition, the parties also discussed the situation with air defense and the implementation of the PURL initiative.
“Special attention was given to Ukraine’s energy sector and its current needs, considering the ongoing Russian attacks on our energy infrastructure”, — Volodymyr Zelenskyy added.
