Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, reported that the Dobropillia counteroffensive operation of the Defense Forces of Ukraine is ongoing, and despite constant enemy counterattacks, assault units continue offensive actions, having liberated a total of 180.8 km² of Donetsk region territory.

The Commander-in-Chief wrote this on his page following another working visit to the area of the operation.

“During the latest working visit I held a meeting with the command staff at one of the command posts. I heard reports on the current situation and on the fulfilment of previously assigned tasks”, — the statement says.

According to General Syrskyi, over the past 24 hours control was restored over 1.3 km², and assault units on certain axes advanced from 200 metres to 2.5 km.

Overall, for the duration of the operation as of 22 September 2025:

  • 180.8 km² of territory liberated and control restored over seven populated localities;

  • 212.9 km² cleared of enemy sabotage-and-reconnaissance groups (SRGs) and nine populated localities cleared.

Total losses of Russian occupiers on the Dobropillia axis amount to:

  • personnel — 2,696 persons (of whom 1,492 are irrecoverable/killed);

  • weapons and military equipment — 856 units, including 12 tanks, 38 armored combat vehicles and 175 artillery systems.

General Syrskyi said he spoke with unit commanders conducting counter-sabotage operations to locate and destroy enemy SRGs, as well as with commanders of individual groups of Russian occupiers who remain encircled. He issued the necessary orders to improve logistics, protect roads and prevent enemy advances on the Pokrovsk direction.
